I trust my bookers and travelers, do I need a travel policy?
Excellent, it's great that you trust your bookers and travelers! You hired them, you work together, it's great that you have that trust. And yes, you should have a travel policy for a couple reasons. First, travel policies remove uncertainty for bookers and travelers, allowing them to see which options work for the company when they're considering itinerary options instead of interpreting or guessing at your expectations. You can set your policy as strict or permissive as you like, but that guidance helps your colleagues. Second, with AmTrav travel policies you can set the form of payment by travel policy, making it easy to align the Sales department card with Sales travelers, and so on. Finally, setting policy allows you to see metrics on the itinerary options that your bookers and travelers pick so you have a baseline understanding of the impact of looser or stricter policy.

How many travel policies do I need?
How many business travel policies you set up is entirely up to you: create one, or create one thousand (really, there's no limit). We see clients set up different policies for different departments (Sales travels differently from Operations), for different job levels (executives allowed to fly business class internationally), and for different trip purposes like inviting an interviewee or flying a contractor. Does every booking under a policy need to be approved?
No! You have complete control over how you configure your pre-trip approvals. You can require approval on all bookings under a policy, on no bookings under a policy, or on only those bookings that violate policy, and you can even auto-approve bookings made my approved approvers. How do I know if my travel policy is working?
First, AmTrav gives you a summary view of your bookers' compliance with policy in the Travel Reports so you can quickly see compliance rates with each policy criteria and each product (air, hotel, car).
