Delta Makes Standby Free for Same-Day Trip Changes

Delta Makes Standby Free for Same-Day Trip Changes

Last week Delta made it easier for all travelers to adjust their itineraries on the fly. You might have heard about the unprecedented hold times and flight schedule changes that have recently been plaguing travelers. No doubt in an effort to relieve some of those pain points, Delta has made it free and easy for travelers to make last minute changes to their flight by eliminating same-day standby fees.

If you need to change your flight on the day it departs, you can now stand by for an earlier flight for free. This only applies if the new flight you’re selecting does not have seats available in the same fare class you originally booked.

Travelers can make their same-day change in the Fly Delta app or on Delta’s website, avoiding long lines or hold times. In order to qualify, your new flight must also depart on the same day and your standby request or a confirmed change must be made within 24 hours of departure. Keep in mind that same-day changes are not available for Basic Economy tickets (but are available for all other domestic tickets). According to Delta, same-day changes remain complimentary for SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion Members.

While flight schedules remain a bit unreliable and business travelers get back on the road, our support team is ready to help. If you have any questions about Delta’s updated policy or need help managing your itinerary, feel free to reach out to a member of our team.
