In October 2023 American Airlines announced that the Business Extra corporate rewards program would be discontinued on January 31, 2024. Companies could no longer earn or redeem Business Extra credits after January. At the same time American Airlines announced AAdvantage Business, a direct-only SMB program offering points earning, and also allowing companies' travelers to continue earning AAdvantage miles and loyalty points come May 1, 2024.
